Common questions about Singapore accounting
When must a newly incorporated Singapore company start bookkeeping?
Under Section 199 of the Singapore Companies Act, all companies must maintain accounting and other records that sufficiently explain the transactions and financial position of the company from the date of incorporation. Maintaining records monthly prevents costly year-end reconstruction and ensures statutory compliance.
Does my company qualify for audit exemption in Singapore?
A Singapore private company qualifies as a "small company" and is exempt from statutory audit if it satisfies at least 2 of the following 3 criteria in the past two financial years: (1) Total annual revenue does not exceed S$10 million; (2) Total assets do not exceed S$10 million; (3) Number of full-time employees does not exceed 50. Exempt companies only require Unaudited Compilation Financial Statements prepared by Zen Corp.
Is corporate tax filing handled together with accounting?
Tax computations and filings (Form C-S / Form C and GST F5) are managed under our Compliances & Taxation division. The completed accounting records feed directly into the tax schedules, ensuring 100% data consistency and seamless submission to IRAS.
